Job Summary
The Assistant R&D Manager will work with the Project Development Team for the development of innovative solutions, research, and programs addressing social development challenges. This role will assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating research studies, programs, and projects, while also contributing to the organization’s strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Development
- Support the design and implementation of research initiatives aimed at identifying new program opportunities and enhancing existing services.
- Conduct market research, data collection, and analysis to inform strategic decisions and project development.
- Identify trends, emerging needs, and innovative approaches relevant to IMPLEMENTERS’ mission and programs.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on research findings, making recommendations for new initiatives or program improvements.
- Contribute to the development of research protocols, IRB submissions, and ethics approvals.
Project Development Support
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to conceptualize and design new projects in line with organizational objectives.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
- Assist in developing project roadmaps, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure timely and effective execution.
- Stay updated on industry developments, best practices, and new technologies to identify opportunities for implementing innovative solutions.
- Assist in piloting new projects or services, collecting and analyzing feedback for refinement.
- Suggest and implement improvements to current research processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Head, Portfolio & Operations and Programs Manager to develop and implement portfolio growth strategies.
Other Responsibilities
- Work closely with departments such as project management, communications, and finance to ensure alignment on R&D initiatives.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including research partners, academic institutions, and technology providers, as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute insights from an R&D perspective to support organizational goals.
Key Performance Indicators
Research Output Quality
- Metric: Peer-reviewed publications per year.
- Target: 4 publications per year (1 per quarter)
Research Project Completion Rate
- Metric: Percentage of research projects completed on time.
- Target: 90%
Research Budget Management
- Metric: Variance from approved research budget.
- Target: ±5%
Collaboration and Partnerships
- Metric: Number of funding and implementing partnerships with individuals, non-profit, industry or government.
- Target: 4 new partnerships per year
Research Grant Acquisition
- Metric: Total value of research grants secured
- Target: $500,000 per year

Minimum Requirements
- Postgraduate or MPhil or MSc degree in Social Science, Project Management, Social Work or a field relevant to the specific department in the organization.
- A minimum of 5-10 years work experience as a research professional or similar role.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in research, program development, or a related field.
- Experience with program evaluation, monitoring, and impact assessment.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Stata).
- Certification in research ethics (e.g., CITI).
- Familiarity with research software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo) and database management.

IMPLEMENTERS shall be responsible for the provision of transport, office support and other material requirements to facilitate the work of the Assistant Research & Development Manager.
